Amid the range, which covers five models and eight variants, prices start at $50,990 for the Core four-cylinder turbo diesel with manual transmission.

"The Amarok has been designed to be visually, ergonomically and dynamically distinctive; so too is the extent of its equipment and its positioning," Volkswagen commercial vehicles director, Ryan Davies, said.

The Aventura models and the PanAmericana version will be the first to arrive in Australia. These will be followed by the Style, Life and Core versions.

Aventuras are available with a 3.0L diesel or 2.3L petrol engine, both linked to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Standard equipment includes 21-inch alloy wheels, electronic tub cover, tub bed liner, leather seats and leather-covered dashboard. Metallic paint will add another $990.

The PanAmericana model has a 3.0L turbo diesel engine and 10-speed automatic transmission and is standard with 18-inch alloy wheels, 10-way electric adjustable front passenger and driver seats. The price of the PanAmericana is $75,990. Prices exclude on-road costs.
